but lately it's suddenly gotten cold.
How is everyone doing?
Our store is unfazed by the temperature fluctuations,
and we're receiving exciting new products daily.
Amidst all this,
something came to my mind.
～TUDOR～
Tudor, a brand that has been rapidly growing in popularity for several years.
I still have a habit of calling it "Chudor,"
and I sometimes wonder why it became "Tudor."
Today, I'd like to delve a little deeper into this immensely popular brand,
"TUDOR."
～The Beginning of TUDOR～
Tudor is a brand founded in the 1930s by Hans Wilsdorf, the founder of Rolex,
as a diffusion brand of Rolex.
The main aim was to expand to the general public in the UK,
where Rolex's headquarters were located at the time.
Also, at the time of its establishment, it was called "Chudor."
From here on, I will refer to it as Chudor.
In Chudor's early days,
it used most of the same parts as Rolex,
and its low price made it widely popular.
It maximized cost performance by using ETA movements.
It was also popular in Japan and was sold until the 1970s,
but with the discontinuation of its distribution, it became available only at some parallel import stores,
gradually becoming a brand known only to a select few.
～TUDOR's Restart～
Chudor, which had long established itself as Rolex's "affordable brand,"
announced its in-house movement in 2015.
From here, it began to forge its own path.
Chudor, which had long disappeared from the Japanese market,
rebranded as "TUDOR"
and re-entered Japan in 2018!
In 2019, it served as the official timekeeper for the Rugby World Cup,
and announced a collaboration with the New Zealand national team All Blacks,
among other active endeavors that continue to this day.
The core of its popularity, "Black Bay,"
remains popular, and sometimes it's hard to find.
