🎆August 13-16 is Obon🎆

🎆 The Origin of Obon 🎆
Thank you for always choosing ISEYA.
Do you know the origin of Obon?
Obon is widely known as a traditional Japanese event,
held to honor the spirits of ancestors.
This custom is believed to have spread as Buddhist teachings were introduced to Japan.
Obon is usually held in mid-August in many regions,
and its origin is that ancestral spirits are believed to return home.
During this period, relatives gather to commemorate and comfort the spirits,
which holds significant meaning.
Furthermore, various events are held across Japan during the Obon period.
For example, "Mukaebi" (welcoming fires) where lanterns are lit to greet ancestral spirits,
"Kuyo" (memorial services) where offerings are made before Buddha,
and "Okuribi" (sending-off fires) to send off ancestral spirits are typical examples.
Through Obon events, families and relatives who don't often meet
can find items to dress up for themselves for outings,
or gifts for their parents.
