The allure of Prada
Among the many beautiful and glamorous Italian brands,
the brand that many people would probably think of is "PRADA".
Without being too assertive,
its delicate design has made it popular
mainly among women, and it continues to be so.
This time, I'd like to delve a little into Prada.
~The Birth of PRADA~

Prada began in
"1913".
It all started when brothers Mario Prada and Martino Prada
founded the company in Italy.
They collected rare leathers from all over the world,
such as elephant, crocodile, and snake.
Their high-quality products quickly gained popularity.
Eventually, it grew to become a brand favored by the Italian royal family.
However, a dark cloud began to loom over the otherwise smooth-sailing Prada...
It was "war".

During the era of World War I and World War II,
Prada had been planning to open its second and third stores.
However, there was a mismatch between its products, which were for travel, and the global situation,
leading to a gradual decline in sales.
Furthermore, due to the war,
there was extensive damage from bombing, and instead of opening a third store,
they were forced to close their second store.
And then, more misfortune struck...
The younger brother, Martino Prada,
was forced to leave due to political issues.
The older brother, Mario Prada, was left alone to rebuild the company.
In 1958, Mario Prada passed away,
and his two daughters, Nanza and Luisa, took over during Prada's dark ages.
They made reforms, such as changing the target audience,
but the difficult situation continued until around the 1970s.
Then, a light shone on Prada.
~Miuccia Prada~

In 1978,
Miuccia Prada, the founder's granddaughter,
took over as designer and owner at the young age of 29.
Along with her future partner,
her husband Patrizio Bertelli,
she began to rebuild Prada.
Its popularity quickly returned,
and for over 40 years, it has been leading Prada and the fashion scene.
Furthermore, in 2020,
Raf Simons joined as co-designer,
and Prada's popularity continues to grow.
The stories of brands overcoming difficult times
are truly great and profound.
Please take this opportunity to rediscover Prada.
